Brief Description of the Project:
The project aimed to improve sustainable livelihoods for marginalized populations through a rights-based approach. It focused on forming Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), building capacity, and mobilizing natural, economic, and physical resources to alleviate poverty. Key activities included establishing farmer groups, promoting savings and credit practices within these groups, and providing capacity and skill development training on both farm-based and off-farm enterprises. |
Major outcomes achieved/ Implementation Success:
- Established 72 community organizations and 22 leasehold forest user committees across 5 VDCs. Collected and mobilized NPR 498,000 from savings within the community to support the initiation and strengthening of enterprises and other income-generating activities.
- Undertook extensive planting activities, including Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) on 27.92 hectares, medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs) on 42.2 hectares, and grass seedlings on 23.1 hectares. Additionally, planted 15,700 timber trees across 15 hectares.
- Benefited 568 individuals through veterinary and agriculture training. Provided nursery management training to 62 participants, leading to the establishment of 7 NTFP nurseries.
- Improved infrastructure for 1,224 households through 14 projects, including 7 drinking water schemes, 2 micro-hydro schemes, 2 irrigation schemes, and 3 school buildings.
- Delivered training in leadership development, account management, gender awareness, rights-based approaches, and plan development to community groups.
