Brief Description of the Project:
The project was designed and implemented to contribute to the national goal of reducing poverty to 10% within 20 years. Its interventions were tailored to enhance the income of rural poor people, addressing their specific needs and aligning with the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of halving national poverty. The project emphasized community development through the mobilization of savings and credit, alongside social mobilization efforts, to foster a more economically self-reliant society.
Major outcomes achieved/ Implementation Success:
  • Established 115 community organizations across 8 VDCs, with 1,561 members benefiting from revolving funds. These funds supported diverse income-generating activities including tailoring, grocery shops, buffalo and goat farming, and electrical shops.
  • Mobilized NPR 18,248,992 for 74 community organizations to facilitate revolving funds. This initiative aimed to enable members to start and enhance small-scale enterprises, contributing to stable income growth.
  • Successfully implemented and managed 8 water supply projects, 1 school building, 2 micro hydropower installations, and 1 small irrigation scheme.
  • Provided capacity-building training to 1,623 members of community organizations. The training covered leadership, account keeping, revolving fund management, and TOPE (Training of Potential Entrepreneur) to strengthen their skills and effectiveness.
